Zen Ridge Raceway Posted bySMonsionon 09 Jul, 2015 06:16
I own some property next to Caesar Creek State Park. My brother and I are building an 1/8 mile dirt go-kart track on my property. Hopefully track will be done soon if rain ever stops. We are working on building our Karts. We may come down and see what you guys have to offer on your next race day.
This was one of the initial pictures. We have since widened the curve on the far end. We had to put in a drain at the far end because the constant rain had halted our progress. Now it is draining well and we can proceed with building out the bank curves. I'll add more pictures after this weekend when we get the drain pipe covered back up.
Hi all! My brother started this thread. We are beginning to make further progress on our track, in spite of all the rain. I work 12 hour shifts in Columbus, which means 15 hr days with the commute. Been trying to spend as much time working on the track as possible, but I am also the mechanic for our karts and have been having to divide my time between the two chores.....,..ahh, not enough hours in a day! We hopefully will have a runable track in the next couple of weeks, weather permitting. I'll try to post some more pics of our progress this evening. Also we are going to try to make it to one of your next races, hopefully with karts.
yeah we definitely hope you can make it to our races soon! We definitely would like to come and try out your track as well. Post some pics in the gallery when you get a chance.
DoesHey good to hear from u..we are racing the next 2 saturdays in a row would love to have u guys come race with us.an yes we would love to come up an do some racing on ur track when its ready.even though we dont hardly race an round tracks cause all are tracks are indy style but doesnt mean we wont .so hopefully we all can get together..only thing is we have 4 classes an its by motors not what u weigh..not sure what u guys run by on ur track.well hope to c u saturday
Sorry I haven't posted any new pics yet. I live in Michigan and commute every week for my job and just ran out of time before I headed home. I'll be back down on Saturday and hope to post some pics then.
I'm trying to finish our second kart before next Saturday, so we can hopefully join you folks then. We will be running a Sodi kart and what looks to be a Margay, both are non-offset and are set up for box stock clone (at least to begin with ) and as far as our track, I think the class rules you guys have will work fine also.
My property is 6 acres but the only level ground is on the ridge. We choose the oval because it was the easiest to get started and the least amount of dirt to move. I also like to golf and figured the infield of track would be a perfect chipping fairway for my chipping green. (seen in the background of video) I always envision my property being a party place where you can enjoy many things. I have some motorcycle trails in my woods. I plan to put a shooting range in the woods. I also have a 3 sided barn back by the track that I plan to turn into camping shelter with electric and water.
We hope to c u this saturday..we will be at the track on west road...we may move the time back cause of the heat.....we was thinking like starting around 4 or 5..hope u guys can come we had a new guy show up yesterday an hes coming back .so we always like as many people that want to come out.
Watched your video..looks fun...from what i seen needs to be a little bit wider but we will have to set something up to come up an race sometime...when u come to are race ill show u a drag i built that works great for leveling up the track...hope to c u this saturday.
I'm planning to make it to your 8/15 race. My brother will be out of town that weekend, so I'll be by myself. I look forward to meeting everyone and probably getting my a** handed to me on the track!
I'll basically be sorting the Margay cart out and seeing if there is anything I missed in prep. See you all then.
My maiden voyage around what we have for a track so far. (still needs work)
Sorry about not making it out Saturday folks. Had to meet with our realtor at the last minute Saturday morning, leaving me no time to get down there. We both plan on being there for the next race on the 29th and I should have both karts ready to shake down. My apologies again and we look forward to meeting you all.
Yes we plan on being there Saturday. I may only have 1 kart ready but we still plan on bringing it and shaking it out. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
We will be there tomorrow with hopefully 2 karts. I guess we will be in stage 2 clone, as we have air filters, jets, and headers. Governors are still on them, so we won't pose a threat to anyone and we'll stay out of the way of the points race.
I was walking the dogs out by my track site and the racing at Arledge track this past weekend gave me a new idea. We will still have the 1/8 mile oval track but can make a second road track that includes part of the oval track but also has a loop around my greenhouse. The trail around the green house is already pretty decent and with little work I can add it into racing plans.
My brother is ordering a helicoil kit to fix the 3-point pin on my tractor which has delayed progress on the track. In the mean time I used a chain wrapped around the tractor axle to hold the 3 point hitch in place. Worked good enough to use the back blade and tiller. Not sturdy enough for the Box-Blade with rippers though. But I did get the oval smoothed out enough to run some laps. Hoping to have a Halloween race / party if all goes well. If we get the Box Blade going again soon we might even be able to get the road track completed by then.
